Green procurement : Vinyloop Ferrara SpA, Italy, is the first company ever to receive the label "Second life Plastic" from the Italian plastics recycling sector.

Vinyloop Ferrara SpA, a subsidiary of SolVin, received 21st March the label "Second Life Plastic" for the recycled PVC it produces in its plant in Ferrara (Italy).

The certificate, emitted by the Italian Institute for Plastics, on behalf of the IPPR (Institute for the Plastics recycling, Italy), allows its registration into the Repertory of Recycling of the Ministry of Environment, established to favour the "Green Procurement" by the Public Administration.

The Vinyloop physical-mechanical recycling process works with end of life cable sheathing waste generated by copper reclaimers. The recycled material is a PVC compound in the form of microgranules, containing the PVC resin, the plasticizer, pigments, all the other additives or filler present in the original material.

Patented in 1998 by Solvay, the process works in three steps: dissolution, filtration, precipitation, then finishing of the end product and re-use of the solvents.
