Flooring

General description

These are both the industrial scraps from producers of cut-outs and also used floor coverings.
The content of the PVC compound generally exceeds 95%, the other materials being either reinforced glass fibre, cellulose fibre or carborundum (for anti-slip floor coverings). The raw materials need to be cut into smaller parts to accelerate dissolution.
Carborundum may not enter into a Vinyloop line, because it damages the equipments.
The natural choice for re-use of this regenerated PVC compound in the same applications, as bottom or intermediate layers of floor coverings. The regenerated PVC compound can be processed in calendering, compression and scattering in plastisols.

Contribution to sustainable development

Post-consumer floor coverings are subject to a a voluntary commitment of ERFMI (the European association of resilient flooring manufacturers).
These wastres are rather disseminated on the territory, whereas hospitals, public and office buildings may contain many thousands of square meters. Recovering them requires a solid infrastructure to collect, sort, transport and grind. This is a true challenge to the Industry.
