Tarpaulin

General description

These are mainly end-of-life products used in different applications, such as: stretched tarpaulins for building applications, advertising tarpaulins, protective tarpaulins for urban construction work, truck tarpaulins, tents and marquees.
The average PVC compound content is 60 to 70%, the rest being mainly polyester fibres. These in turn have a certain value as raw material for non-woven provided the fibres are long enough.
"The pilot unit that will be installed in Ferrara will be designed on the basis of the Texyloop(R) process developed with Ferrara Textiles Industries, partner in the Vinyloop Ferrara joint venture. It will be designed to separate smoothly the fibres from the PVC. In the mean time, these wastes will be processed without special fibre treatment.
Ferrara Textiles will undertake the collection and the preparation of those wastes. "

Contribution to sustainable development

ThereEnd of use tents or truck tarpaulins of the end up as temporary crop protection sheets, before they disappear in some landfilling site.   On top of the PVC compound, here, the fibers are prepared to be re-sold to the textile industry.
